Sunflower
Original design; machine pieced, 3-dimensional petals with wire in fabric,"seeds" machine sewn with elastic thread
greens hand-dyed with Procion dyes, yellows hand-dyed with natural dyes (marigold petals), hand applique, hand quilted.
Petals can be manipulated---below right, they are pressed back to look wind-swept, but they can be moved forward to "petals closed" or "freshly bloomed". Petals are pinkie-size.
